Hey, this is Brittany again.
As of today OLD School has been over for one month, which is crazy to think! For one thing, I'm still digesting a lot of what we learned, and I'm sure I will continue learning from our three-month adventure for literally years to come. I want to thank everyone who prayed diligently for us, you will never really know how big of an impact OLD School had on me, on all of us! When I returned home "for good" this time, I was immediately hit by a wall of discouragement. I knew that I would be difficult coming back to the "real world." OLD School was a place where I had nine amazing brothers and sisters who I could fellowship with and who I grew so close to-people who I could share my fears and struggles as well as praises and triumphs with and know that they were truly hurting or rejoicing, lifting me before the throne in every circumstance, living out Romans 12:15. We learned and were able to immediately practice true Christian community. I also was constantly poured into by the spiritual leaders that I admire most in my life, other than my own parents. All of this while being able to backpack through the Appalachians, go from the top of a 400-ft cliff to many feet below the earth's surface, sea kayak through the everglades, and actually be Jesus' hands and feet in another country! We constantly asked ourselves, "Who gets to do this stuff!?!" By God's grace WE did! So, I knew that coming back from that type of experience would be incredibly difficult, and it proved to be harder than even I imagined. But through that God only further convicted me that I cannot take my responsibility to boldly share His gospel back in my "Jerusalem." If I hadn't gone through that, I wouldn't have been so desperate for Him and it would have been tempting to slip back into my comfort zone-God works in incredible ways, I'm so thankful! Once again, all of your prayers in this made a huge difference, please continue to pray for each of us as we return home that we would continue to stay diligent in our pursuit of Christ and minister actively where we are. Love you all!
